Disparity Analysis of Health Care:
Asian American and American Indian/Alaska Native
Despite medical advancements and new technologies, reports and studies show that disparities in health care continue to exist among minority populations. Racial and ethnic minorities are in poorer health, have less access to health care, tend to be uninsured, and often receive lower quality health care (Woods, 2008). Factors that contribute to minority population’s access to health care are demographics, cultural norms, religious beliefs, education, and health insurance coverage. The following chart compare the health disparities of the Asian America (AA) and American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) minority populations in regards to the contributing factors, common conditions of the group, and current eliminatation efforts.
