Personal Values Paper

Values are deeply embedded beliefs that are focused around what is good, right, and appropriate. Our values are instilled in us from childhood based on teachings and our observations of our parents, other family members, religious beliefs, and any other influential person we have been surrounded by. The Ethics Awareness inventory identifies four categories of ethical philosophies which are character, obligation, results and equity (CORE). These categories are broad representations of characteristics reflective of an individual’s perspectives on ethics. The ethical profiles can provide insight into general views and approaches regarding ethical issues. This profile is representative of ethical style as well as individual perspective. (University of Phoenix, 2010). I took the assessment twice and each time my results were the same. The assessment did not match my ethical profile to be closely aligned with any of the categories. However, the assessment did reveal that my ethical profile was least closely aligned with “equity”. What does this mean? A closer look at my personal values will identify my ethical profile, how my personal values compare to the Ethics Awareness Inventory (EAI), and how my values align with Kudler Fine Foods.

My personal values are based on what has been instilled in me from childhood. Although the EAI did not determine which profile was closely aligned with my ethical profile, I feel that my personal values guide my decision making processes. As ethics has to do with what is right, what is good, and what is appropriate, criteria from each of the categories shape my ethical profile. Ethics also has to do with what is right and what is acceptable for a particular situation.
