The National Enquirer, Inc.’s home base in located in the state of Florida. This paper is a well known worldwide news paper known for reporting the latest celebrity news, gossip, features, photos, crime, videos, and reader polls. In order for a reporter to write a story in the paper, the sources should be liable. If not the person that the article was written about could have a law suit against the paper.

In this case, the National Enquirer is being sued due to an article that was written. The paper is being sued by an entertainer in the state of California by the name of Shirley Jones. Ms. Jones is suing the paper for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The reporting of the story of Shirley Jones was an unethical act on behalf of the National Enquirer. Before reporting this story, it was the responsibility of the paper to ensure that every word that would have been written is the truth with documentation to prove what they are writing. This was unethical act on the paper’s behalf due to the fact that everyone is entitled to his or her privacy regardless of who they are or what type of mistakes he or she has made in life.

Even though the things that were reported in the article might be true, it is still Shirley’s place to say whether or not she wants the world to know. On the other hand, that is the life of an entertainer that is also part of being in the public eye. That is no excuse for what the paper has reported on the entertainer. There is a time a place for everything and sometimes a paper has to put the person’s feelings in front of the sales.

Just by the paper trying to avoid the law suit filed against the organization and the President in the state of California shows just how unethical the paper can really be. They do not believe in ethics at all because if they did it would not matter which court the case was heard in. The paper...
