Club It

Club IT is a club run by Lisa and Ruben , two former college colleagues turned business plays the drums and Lisa plays the jazz violin. The club still needs a lot of work but in general is up and running.

Club IT’s mission is, "We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ's, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT."1 The club’s primary clientele consists of college students and individuals in their twenties and early thirties.

Ruben and Lisa are working hard but there is plenty of room for improvement in several areas. In the area of Organizational Effectiveness, Lisa and Ruben have room for improvement on the employer and employee side of things. A good example of this is Club IT’s employee portal. The employee portal is not the place to post an employee’s wage and salary information, personal home address, and emergency contact information especially when it is on the internet.

The employee resources, forms, employee handbook, and staff directory should be on a general employee intranet site. This would still require employees to log onto the site without his/her personal information being displayed. Any human resources department would be opposed to this. To improve the organizational effectiveness and employees to make better use of the company website, so less human resources, administrative, and payroll staff is needed.

If the staff intranet site were separated from the logistics area of the site, staff related human resources tasks would be easily listed on the intranet for staff to use. For example, the employee handbook, the employee forms, and online learning for required courses, such as: ergonomics, sexual harassment, and HIPAA requirements can be fulfilled online. Club IT could implement eLearning for staff to complete online training personal development courses.
