Humility Action Plan: CheckPoint: Week 7:

In creating an action plan to help me to cultivate more humility with the 12 factors from our textbook to become more humble in my life are as follows:

Admit bias: By evaluating myself in a neutral manner I can overcome pride. When I eliminate bias this will give me better access to my own weaknesses and give me a more realistic perspective on my strengths.

Seek accurate feedback: I should always seek criticism and feedback from others. Other people can help me find constructive ways to develop the positive aspects of my personality and skills, also to reduce the effects of the negative aspects.

Learn to laugh at ourselves: I must remember no one is perfect. I have to be able to see my foibles as well as my strengths. Being human means allowing me to make mistakes and learning from them.

Learn from other cultures: I must see myself as part of a much larger world. In this world other cultural forms have as much validity and importance as my own. I can learn many valuable things from other cultures.

Cultivate the other strengths: My strengths are easier to improve upon than my weaknesses are to eliminate. Strengths help me to become a better, more equal partner in my relationships. I can be a better social being. Learn to be more positive.

Assume a cosmic perspective: Look at the world as the vast place it is. I am only one part of a much larger thing. Be humble and remember my true place.

Experience awe: Being sensitive is a gift. It gives me the chance to realize the great beauty and wonder that exists all around me each day. This more open and wonder filled view will give me the gift of humility too.

Focus beyond self: Remember that others have needs too. Focus outside my own self and my own desires. Helping and recognizing others is a great way to relieve my own problems.

Promote secure attachment: Take the needs of others into account in my actions and decisions. Approach all life with greater trust....
