This short case study is about one of the most successful manager of Fresh Food Supermarket’s store Vivian Noble and about her new mission in Phoenix, Arizona, where she should to open and manage chain’s new store. Because Vivian Noble has African American ethnicity she faced some problems during her career. However, her strong character let her to get over those barriers and Noble become one of the very successful managers of chain. Noble’s high managerial skills helped her successfully to take over the new project in Phoenix. She made a strategy that included individual work with each social and cultural group of people in this new place.
Question 1: What steps can Vivian Noble take to recruit and develop her new work force?
There are several steps that can be taken in order to recruit and develop Nobel’s new employees. However, one of the first steps that she should make is research about Phoenix’s population, its ethnicity and culture. As it mentioned in the case there are a lot of local people with Hispanic and Native American roots. Therefore, selling products, ingredient in new market that Hispanic and Native American rooted people specifically use in their cuisine and foods may be a good idea. Moreover, hiring employees who speaks Spanish or some other languages that people speak in this area is another good idea. Due to the fact that, there are some people who don’t speak English, and this step could be very strategic movement by Nobel. Besides, local people will consider such actions by new market as a sign of respect to them.
Next step that can be done in order to develop work force is a training programs. Using her managerial skills Nobel can teach her employees customer service in such specific location, and she can share her experience with them. Motivational programs also are good idea to recruit work force. Opportunities such as innovation contribution, career growth in case of hardworking are another possible motivations for employees....
