Organizational Transformation

Sustained innovation starts from developing a sense of purpose. This comes from setting free the creativity of individuals within the organization. Training and education is given and received from every individual within the organization. This allows a form of ownership within the organization. Each individual has a feeling of belonging by giving his or her input, and expressing his or her knowledge and experience.

Leaders create the mental atmosphere that promotes continual innovation at every level of the organization. The pledge to establishing the right mental atmospheric conditions for innovation needs to start at the top of the organization. The leadership in the organization needs to ponder his or her own expectations about innovation and his or her role in building and altering the organizations philosophy. Leadership need to appreciate the importance of incremental as well as the most important innovations. Leadership should understand the mindset of innovation and assume the leadership role in stimulating an innovative philosophy within his or her organization. There are several steps that can assist in creating the mental atmospheric conditions that favor creative thinking within the organization. These are create a strong sense of direction, ensure communications are open, bureaucracy reduction, impart a sense of ownership, ensure rewards, and recognition are consistent, an open-mindedness for risk and failure, and eliminate processes, and projects not working. The organizations mission assists in directing the creativity of the employees. Providing a clear message assists everyone on innovation. This establishes a clear sense of direction.
