The chapter on politics by ‘Nigel Warburton’ brings up topics of freedom, equality, distribution, discrimination and democracy. This paper will focus on the topics distribution, reverse discrimination and freedom.

An egalitarian view believes that all humans should have an equal distribution of money. With respect to the egalitarian view, I disagree that money should be distributed equally amongst the population. This strive of perfect equality can be seen in communist movements where the population are supposedly equal. Even communist movements have failed to equally distribute money as we can see from real world examples like North Korea; the individual who possess the majority of the money is the dictator, which leads to the low standard of living of its populations. Equal distribution of money is a good concept but doesn’t work in the real world. Individuals should get paid based on the work they achieve.

Reverse discrimination is a method of striking equality by discriminating against the majority group. This method will bring equality to the environment. For example if in a work place there is more women then men, when a male and a female apply for the same position with similar credentials the male will be chosen to strive a balance in the work force. In my opinion this is a very good method as striving a balance in society is very important. Using this scenario if the female were to be chosen the firm would be accused of being sexist whereby the majority of the workforce is female. But it can also be argued that maybe the job is suited more for women than men. By hiring the male the firm is taking a
