Guillermo Furniture Store is a business that is in desperate need for change. One reason is because a new competitor from overseas has entered into the furniture market. The second reason is because the communities in Sonora woke up as one of the largest retailers in the nation’s headquarters emerged nearby, and its influence has expanded considerably (University of Phoenix, 2010). As any business owner planning would take place to figure out what could be done to make sure the business survives these changes. Anytime there is competition in the area it is important that an organization has a firm foundation of quality in product and money. This paper will address how Mr. Navallez can use performance, budgets, and ethics influence decision making. It will also address the accounting information that is essential to the company making decisions.

Understanding the competition is very important when trying to make decisions on how to organize a business. It can make or break an organization when a new business comes into town and tries to take over. Scorekeeping is a good way for internal and external parties to evaluate organizational performance (Horngren, Sundem, & Straton, 2008). Once this information is gathered the organization can use it to interpret what needs to be focused on in the organization; also known as attention directing. This will allow the furniture store to see how they pair up to their competition. For example, if they are better at producing products more quickly because of technology, Guillermo Furniture may need to get better technology. Another necessity may be for them to focus more on marketing and get themselves in the minds of the consumers like the larger companies.
