An engineer is a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuityto develop solutions for technical, societal and commercial problems. Engineers design materials, structures, and systems while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety, and cost. The word engineer is derived from the Latin rootsingeniare ("to contrive, devise") and ingenium ("cleverness").Engineers are crucial for the smooth running of a country’s industry and services. They are well-versed in mechanical terminology and rise to the challenge posed by complex problem-solving tasks.
An individual who is in charge of a certain group of tasks, or a certain subset of a company. A manager often has a staff of people who report to him or her.
As an example, a restaurant will often have a front-of-house manager who helps the patrons, and supervises the hosts; or a specific office project can have a manager, known simply as the project manager. Certain departments within a company designate their managers to be line managers, while others are known as staff managers, depending upon the function of the department.
Engineers are good managers in terms that they plan and do they plan ahead of time. The best engineers can prove that something will work before the labor and materials have been expended upon it. As an engineer, it is our responsibility to design structures and products that will function safely, and as intended. Good engineers should think their projects through before attempting a design, as the wrong calculations can prove disastrous when it comes to the planning stages.
