Cosmic Creation Myths Across Cultures

The world has a complex idealism of creation. Each culture has its own set of beliefs of creation that differs from culture to culture. Many cultures believe in some of the same gods, such as; The God of the Sun, The God of the Moon, or The God of the Heavens. Even though there is a belief of these gods, the cultures vary in the belief of creation and each culture has a different name for the god and a differ idea of how creation was forms. In the Inca creation it is believed to be the sun and the moon gods. In the Egyptian culture it was neither, creation was from one single god that sprung from the dark waters.

The Incas believed that Pachacamac, the God of the Sun, came from Lake Titicaca. He was so dazzling that he was the only thing to be seen in the sky. The night was empty and dark so he created the stars, planets, and the moon. The moon, Pachamama became his wife and the God of the Moon. Jointly they would rule the heavens and the earth.

Pachacamac attempted to make the first humans from the rocks of a huge mountain. This was unsuccessful. The humans were horrid beings with no knowledge of the world or survival of it. Pachacamac and Pachamama then created and bore a son and daughter that they would send to earth to help them learn. The son of the God of the Sun taught the men how to farm by teaching them the plow and how to plant. The daughter of the God of the Moon taught the women the ability and skills needed to weave and how to make food. The children were told by their father, The God of the Sun, the humans must be taught to be kind and fair, in return he would provide them with light and warmth, but they mustn’t forget their creators.

The son became known as the first Inca, therefore was named Inca. Inca and his sister wife ruled the first humans on earth. Together they would...
