Personal Model of Helping

People have always had problems some that can be handled on their own and some issues that need the help of a professional to figure out how to handle it. When a professional is sought out to help a person with their problem the right form of help has to be matched for the need. We as human service professionals must decide which technique is best suited for us so we can help others best. We learn new thing all the time whether it is about ourselves or about others. When we chose to help others we must know the best way to help without causing more issues for the client. There are a number of theories a professional can use to help others but a good human service professional must decide which theory fits them best. In order to decide we must explore ourselves to see what it is we have to offer our clients. Depending on what particular skills a person possess, their lifestyle, their background and approach, can all make a difference on how a person helps another person.

We all have issues and there are some issues that we cannot handle on our own. The person who cannot figure out a way to take care of these problems sometimes outside help will need to be sought for a way to fix the problems. Most people need to have some guidance as to what to do to get rid of their problems. This is where the professional comes in and help devise a plan to help the client. The name of the professional can be therapist, clinician, or case manager; regardless of the title the work is still similar. The goal is to help the client effectively.

I have looked at all of the theory methods and I am drawn to the area of cognitive behavioral with behavioral modification I see that this area looks at the reasons why we think the way we do.
