Youth Gangs

Well as we know gangs are becoming a big deal around the world. Not just in some states either gangs are becoming a worldwide thing. So officers have the difficult task of trying to control these gangs. So therefore they have to try to stay on top which makes them have to continuously have to respond to gangs. So what we’re going to talk about is what responses do officers both federal and state come up with, are they working responses, and what I would change about them.

Well let’s discuss what responses officers have come up with. November 2000 you have where the National Institute of Justice had a research set up for gangs and members. The main focus was to reduce gang crime specifically in the drug area. Then state level you have where the stat of New Jersey in 2010 had a state wide survey referring to gangs where 21 counties participated. So people have their different ways to try to handle it.

Do these responses really work or are they just a waste of time? Well most people think it is a waste of time because there are still gangs and gang violence. Let’s be real for a second, do you really think that gangs could just be eliminated? That is pretty much impossible, gangs are all thriving and becoming bigger in numbers. So yes there have been instances where certain responses have slowed down gangs, gang violence, and drugs but there has never been a permanent solution to it.

What would I change is the next question brought to the table. Well I would have a no gang zone, if I see you with bandanas automatic arrests. A big part of gang members is the bandanas, for most it is mandatory and those are the ones we will get. You start with those and try to get info from them to lead to more arrest. Loyalty means nothing to some people when their freedom is on the line. So you get the foot soldiers and move on to the OG’s and so for.

So really I feel there is no way to completely stop...
