U.S.A

The U.S enters WW1 !!!

Most of Europe was at war because Germany attacked France. There were two sides to the war in Europe the first group was called Triple Entente the second was called Triple Alliance. England, France and Russia were the Triple Entente Italy and the United States joined them. The Triple Alliance was Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. In the beginning before the United States entered the war they were going to be neutral. Then Germany attacked a British ship but there were 128 Americans on that boat. Even though the British were our allies we were angry that Americans died on that ship as well. The United States didn’t want to see more of our people die so we entered into the war. The United States also entered because of Germany. They wanted to get rid of the dictators. In response to the British cruise ship being attacked the United States was angry and didn’t want any more attacks. The United States were forced to join the war because the U.S. and their allies were being attacked.

Even though the United States weren’t being attacked the British and French were so the United States were not going to be neutral any longer. On May 7th 1915 the British ship Lusitania was sunk off the coast of England with American passengers (Doc D). America felt angry and baffled that there was this type of attack on their allies. President Wilson originally felt staying neutral would be a better option for the United States because we gain a lot of money (Doc A). Some people felt that America should have stayed neutral in the war (Doc B). They felt this way because it wasn’t an American ship that was attacked it was a British ship.
