Self-Assessment Paper

When doing a self-assessment one must take many things into consideration. Unlike a critique from peers a self-assessment delves into the personal opinions one has of themselves. During this paper questions that one might ask themselves will be answered including values that are important and personal characteristics that help one get along with others. In addition, styles of supervision and tasks that a person might find difficult to do will also be discussed.

Self-Description

In describing myself I would say that I am a very creative person. Working with things that allow me to brainstorm new ideas is really my forte. My creativity is generally expressed through thinking of new ideas or strategies which can be applied to different situations. I also like to plan for the future and set long-term goals. Towards others I am sensitive to everyone’s individual needs and the concerns of others and respond with great understanding and intuition to emotionally difficult situations. Planning for the future is one of my greatest assets because being ahead is what works best. With four kids and very little down time it is always essential to look ahead see what will come in the future.

Important Values

According to Health Care Management, “…personal values (or morals)—the underlying beliefs and attitudes that help determine individual behavior” (p.33, 2007). One of the most important values is honesty because when working with others you want them to trust you. Trust allows others to open up and feel more comfortable talking and working with others. Selflessness is another important value that I hope close to my heart. Taking care of others is not a job that is designed for everyone. When caring for others you must give all you can to your friends, family, or patients before yourself. Next is respect, which is a value that is instilled in most people at an early age.
