Konstantinos Valkanis

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

To the assignment below we represent the logistics performance index (LPI), a term created by World Bank in 2007 to measure the global logistic sectors of each country worldwide. We analyze the six (6) evaluating components that result the score of each country, state the high performing countries throughout the years of reporting and focus on the geographical – political – social constraints that keep some countries into lower rankings. Furthermore, we represent the case of Greece, the LPI rankings of the country since 2007, the causes of the huge drop since 2012 and the efforts to improve mostly the infrastructure component focusing to the development of the ports. Finally, we point out the relation of LPI with other indexes – indicators such as the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI), the Trading across Boarders Indicator (TABI), the air connectivity index (ACI),and last but not least we highlight to the new demand towards “green logistics” and the relevant Environmental performance index (EPI).
