Statistical Process Control Paper

According to Omar (2010), “Statistical process control (SPC) is a dynamic monitoring method where product quality is actively measured and simultaneously charted while manufactured goods are being mass produced” (p. 18). Process improvement involves monitoring and making changes to a specific process in identifying how the process can be improved. Charts and graphs are an easy way to track processes. According to Omar (2010), “The use of SPC charts for quality control can be traced back to the earlier part of the twentieth century” (p. 18). Control limits detect signals and illustrate what courses of action to take.

The hiring process within the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio is a challenging and complicated process, which takes approximately two to three weeks to complete. Since March, there has been a high turnover rate in the accounting department with regard to the accounting assistant position. Two candidates have been hired and terminated since March. Finding a qualified candidate for the amount of pay the company offers is a set-back. One of the control limits for the position is offering only $10.50 an hour. Another control limit is that the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio contributes’ 50% of the health insurance for the employee only. Candidates are looking for exceptional benefits even if the pay is not that high. The position is currently vacant and the search for another candidate began on November 12, 2010. The hiring process data since March is as follows:
