Should the legalization of Marijuana be allowed?

Since the legalization of marijuana in the state of Colorado, over 200 families have benefited from it. If marijuana was legalized not only will us the people benefit from it but also the government and the economy due to the fact that it will save and earn the government a lot of money and it will drop crime rates down. Many people may agree with this statement and many won’t but in my opinion there are other legal substances that are more harmful than marijuana such as cigarettes and alcohol.

Marijuana is not only a “recreational” drug but also a “non-recreational” drug that can be used to help people out there with certain medical problems. The Stanley Brothers play a big part in distribution and research of marijuana, they re-discovered the benefits of marijuana when treating epileptic attacks. Charlotte a 5 year old that suffers from Dravet syndrome, when Charlotte’s parents found out about the Stanley brothers and they approached them. By this time the Stanley brothers created what was called “Hippies Disappointment”. They called it this because of its low THC. The “Hippies Disappointment” was said to be beneficial to charlotte and within the first treatment her seizure activity went from 400 seizures per week to 0-1 seizures. This is one of the many real life examples that proves to us how beneficial marijuana can be.

By legalizing marijuana the government will benefit from it. The taxation on marijuana dispensary will help our government’s economy. An example is Colorado, in one year the stores sold about $90 million worth of cannabis and the government profited about $35 million. A recent estimation shows that in this upcoming year Colorado will be making $600 million only in marijuana sales. Imagine how the government and the economy could benefit from this money, we could enforce our army for better safety. Legalizing marijuana will help the economy by opening up new job opportunities.
