During the change process organizations can sometimes experience possible gaps. Some of these gaps can involve strategic vision clashing with erroneous implementations, lack of communication between management and employees which can cause a rupture, and finally gaps creating disparity between the change management model and the tools that are used. Resistance is also caused by various factors. Some of these factors include but are not limited to lack of communication, information, and education among the organization which can amplify the resistance. Resistance can also be induced by the lack of methods used to implement change and that will allow for a smooth transition. Well planned and effective communication strategies eliminate employee’s fears of change and can prevent resistance to change as well.

Identify two (2) sources of resistance to change in the Ajax Minerals exercise and describe how the organization dealt with each type of resistance. 

Ajax minerals two sources of resistance to change would have to be uncertainty and discomfort (Palmer et al. 2009, pg 180). These factors already existed within organization before implementing new changes, and the relationship was also complicated between management and staff. One of the most significant resistances came from the junior management section of the organization. The threatening business situation which they had been recently experiencing was perceived by the leaders and the top managers of the company (Palmer et al. 2009). Ajax minerals executives tried to take immediate action in order to maintain the company’s balance. The issue was that employees were only interested in the daily operations, and began to have considerable overtime and unacceptable behaviors.
