1. Hong Kong Disneyland is the most recent major theme park built by Disney. In 1985 Disney executives met with government officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to negotiate the company’s expansion there. After years of talks, Disney opted for a park in Southern China. A global business’s decision to make a foreign investment is contingent upon economic and political factors. What mostly attracted the Walt Disney Company to Southern China are low labor costs and less costly materials. During the last years globalization and its matters started to develop. People should be aware of its importance and a strategy for approaching it is very important. Hong Kong Disneyland tried in certain points to adopt to the Chinese culture and values. But I think that the analyze and the statistics made before should have been more rigorous. The Chinese culture is very rich. We can say that the values and beliefs are opposite to the American ones. The first mistake was that the number of places to visit was too little. Chinese people are at some points opened to new things. They are known as curious people. They like to visit and to travel in order to improve their knowledge. I think that Hong Kong Disneyland should have more places to visit, not only in the American style, but also combined with some European influences. What we have to keep in our minds is the fact that Chinese people are very bounded in their culture. Hong Kong Disneyland should try and find a combination between the American and Chinese cultures. Speaking in numbers, I think that Hong Kong Disneyland should have 70% elements regarding Chinese people and only 30% elements of the American culture.
