LITERATURE AND TECHNOLOGY REVIEW

This chapter will discuss examples of related literature that provide relevant information regarding the proposed system. It will also include the technologies used in development of the system and its operational framework.

Review of Related Literature

The existing system currently being used by the organization is a manual system. A manual system is a system which does not use any computer devices. They store data in other means such as in paper. The staff of T.M. Kalaw Memorial Library currently faces problems such as wasted space and wish to have a system that will allow them to easily manage and monitor their system.

According to Gonzales, Higashioka and Villanueva (2012), Computers or mobile computers became part of human needs and being used daily for large or simple tasks.

According to De Ocampo, Magdasoc and Torres (2012), The use of computers and other gadgets had been trendy and vast. Different jobs that human can do were made easy; and majority of those jobs were done by computer technologies.

According to Soriano, Cruz and Torres (2010), before the evolution of computers, all the details in a library used to be maintained manually. This is not advisable because maintenance and retrieval of information becomes tedious. Modern computers have the capability of handling numbers of tasks with intelligent control over the whole process. An automated library system automates a library by storing all the details involved in maintaining a library.

According to Vignesh P.T. and Valliammai T. (2011), [Library Management System] adopts a comprehensive approach to minimize the manual work and schedule resources and time in a cogent manner.

According to Priyantha (2010), The purpose of having a computer based system is, it helps to increase the market share and it’s very easy for customers to use. It is increasing the demand among the customer.
