1 wording
- correct grammar and word usage
- unambiguous and correct use of (specialist) terms.
2 problem-solving
- the phrasing of the problem is clear
- the research methodology is sound and the justification for it is given
- the link with or the use of the theory is obvious
- practical experiences have been incorporated
- there is an integration of theory and practice.
3 relevance
- the literature studied is relevant and up-to-date
- the scope of the findings has been indicated
- the graduation paper adds to the expansion of available knowledge.
4 personal input
- relevant (professional) knowledge is gathered at the student's own initiative and incorporated
- there is some novelty or creativity
- it contains a personal view.
Presentation and oral defence
1 Organisation
- the examination is in the form of a question-and-answer session with two or three examiners
- there is a short presentation
- the company supervisor (if any) may sit in but has no examining powers.
- duration of the examination is 30 minutes ( 10 minutes presentation and 20 minutes for the question- and answer session).
2 Criteria of assessment
- being able to phrase findings well
- having a profound knowledge of the subject of the graduation paper
- carefully answering the questions asked
- placing the subject of the graduation paper in a wider scope and thus also indicating the coherence with other fields of study
- having a personal view of the subject of the graduation paper and field of study and being able to defend it
