1) FedEx adds value to both individual and business customers. For individual customers, FedEx offers many numerous shipping options that allow consumers to ship a package anywhere in the country, or world, in as little as one day. Additionally FedEx offers guarantees on the delivery date of its packages and gives customers the option to buy insurance to protect the package. For business customers FedEx offers all of the same services as consumers, but also consults with its business clients to offer customized shipping services with guarantees on delivery dates.

2) To create value for both business customers and individual customers, FedEx ensures orders are filled correctly and on time. FedEx invests heavily in a complex distribution network across the country comprised of warehouses, trucks and airplanes to ensure a correct and timely shipment of its packages. FedEx also correctly identifies customers’ needs and requirements with both businesses and consumers. FedEx realizes that both businesses and consumers need different options for delivery dates. A business may need to have an important package shipped overnight, while a consumer may worry about the time it takes for a package to be delivered.

3) FedEx fulfills the safety and security aspect of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs because it gives its customers the option to purchase insurance on packages. This gives customers who purchase insurance peace of mind because they will not have to worry about any damage that may have been caused during shipment. FedEx also meets the social need because it allows people to stay connected with each other by sending packages. For example, parents might send a gift package to their child that is currently away at college.
