B. Background: Gun control laws have been  in the air for many years now. Republicans favor not having many laws on obtaining a gun, while Democrats are working trying to lower the amount of people able to posses and use guns. With guns being so easy to obtain, gun crime is more likely to happen.

C. Thesis: Although guns can be used for good such as protecting, guns have been misused to commit violent crimes affecting everyone nationwide.

II. With guns so easy to acquire, crime rates raise

1. Gross said the political power of the gun lobby had barred such reasonable approaches to limiting gun possession by individuals who are likely to commit mass murder. (Vartabedian)

1. Its easier for people with issues to get guns.

2. More people who are depressed and likely to commit crimes can get a gun from resellers and gun shows that don't require background checks.

B. The frequency of these attacks has picked up since the December 2012 rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., where 20 first-graders and six adults were gunned down. (Vartabedian)

2. Majority of the crimes are being committed by the youth, so there is a problem with youths being able to get guns.

C. A lot of people who get guns are getting them through straws, which are people who buy the gun for them.

III. Straws should be illegal in every circumstance on purchasing a gun

"The Supreme Court has properly recognized that federal law requires that those who intend to buy a gun from a licensed gun dealer cannot circumvent the Brady law by using a straw purchaser, but must submit to a Brady background check," Jonathan Lowy, also of the Brady Center, said in a statement.
