Impact of Climate Change on Business

Introduction

Natural factors have been responsible for the changes that our planet has undergone throughout its history. These include tiny changes in the path of the Earth around the sun, volcanic activity and fluctuations within the planet's climate system. By burning fossil fuels, deforestation and farming livestock, humans have a huge influence on our climate.

Our planet radiates some of the heat from Sun's energy back out towards space. Some gases prevent heat from escaping the planet's atmosphere and act like a glass forming a greenhouse effect. Immense amounts of these gases are released into the atmosphere by humans and this is further enhancing the greenhouse effect.

Europe and other countries worldwide can already face the consequences of climate change. These impacts are predicted to increase in the coming decades. The planet is facing rising temperatures, shifting worldwide rainfall patterns, melting ice glaciers and ever-increasing high sea levels. Floods and droughts are becoming common phenomena due to these changes.
