Part 1- Introduction

1.1 Definition of a Virtual Organisation:

A Virtual Organisation is one which is not limited by space and time. Virtual work operates without clearly defined physical boundaries like desks, chairs and being accessible for only a limited period of time. Enabled by information and communication technology, virtual work permits individuals to share and produce material using blogs, wikis, or other web 2.0 applications. “The more a company or group of companies is able to provide its products and services independent of its location and time restrictions, the more successful it might be.”- Pascal Sieber.

1.2 Definition of Mobile Web:

Mobile web or ‘mobile internet’ refers to the use of mobile phone handsets that have web browsers to access the World Wide Web. Mobile web allows constant internet access anywhere and at anytime (Maamar, 2006)

Part 2- Business Analysis

2.1 How Mobile Web Assists Bankers:

Banking transactions through the Internet and other mobile web services are developing and will provide significant opportunities to the banking industry (Jones, 1995). Technology is rapidly changing the way financial services are designed and delivered (Freeman, 1996; Crane & Bodie, 1996). Banking is an information intensive business and information technology (IT) plays an increasingly significant role in it. The innovations in mobile communications technology have undergone drastic changes and the development of the 3G is another aspect in this development. 3G offers a large bandwidth and better service quality. This new innovation opens new opportunities for mobile banking and bankers are integrating this technology in the mobile commerce value chain.
