1. How are the OB concepts addressed in management functions. roles, and skills?

Management functions have to do with managing the organization and managing the people within the organization. They include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Planning is a process that includes defining goals, establishing strategy, and developing plans to coordinate activities. Organizing is determining what tasks are to be done, who is to do them, how the tasks are to be grouped, who reports to whom, and where decisions are to be made. Leading is a function that includes motivating employees, directing others, selecting the most effective communication channels, and resolving conflicts. Controlling is monitoring activities to ensure that they are being accomplished as planned and correcting any significant deviations. The planning and controlling functions are important for management to be able to manage the organization. The organizing and leading functions are important in managing the people of the organization. Therefore the concepts of OB are demonstrated in their respective leadership styles as they seek to execute their daily functions.

Management roles are the position manager’s play within an organization. These roles involve management interaction with people. The roles are interpersonal, informational, and decisional.

Management skills include technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skills are the ability to apply specialized knowledge or expertise. Human skills refer to the ability to work with, understand, and motivate other people, both individually and in groups. Conceptual skills are the mental ability to analyze and diagnose complex situations. These skills encompass the ability to manage processes, manage people and to resolve problems.
