Tips and Tricks for Buffets
•
■ Crinkle up clear plastic wrap and intertwine it with a length of ribbon or cloth – snake it down the table with small Christmas lights tucked in to add low cost light reflection. If your facility permits, small votive candles give a nice look as well.
■ Use Leaves strewn on a table
■ Use wash tubs, metal buckets, etc. for ice/drink containers
■ Books add great visual interest as well as elevation
■ Ensure food is placed at an angle for best viewing
■ Visit the dollar store, Big Lots, Thrift stores for props
■ Do not over do. The food should be the focal point, the props and décor should bring out the theme, not overpower the food.
■ If in doubt, remember, less is more. Stand away from the buffet area, look it over, and then, remove 1 décor item, if you are in doubt.
