Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada have opened a nightclub called Club IT that caters to music lovers from all walks of life. They have discovered that their clientele is mainly the net generational and millennials whose use of technology includes incorporating BlackBerries and i-phones into their daily lives. Club IT wants to incorporate more technology into the day to day operation and increase the clubs competitive advantage.
Currently Club IT uses separate spreadsheets to handle sales, ordering supplies, and budgeting for the business. The club also uses an intranet for employees to access the company’s human resources department. The club should establish an Enterprise Resource Program (ERP), which “integrates all departments and functions across a company onto a single computer system that can serve all those different departments’ particular needs” (Wailgum, 2010, p1). An ERP would help Club IT manage its accounting and human resources more efficiently, and monitoring cash flow, accounts receivable and payable, cash management, and forecasting while acquiring information on pricing of food and beverages, sales management, and possible commissions to employees. Human resources will also be under the ERP and the owners can track employee performance, compensation, and employee benefits (Rainer & Turban, 2009).
Club IT currently uses seven different suppliers for the company’s supplies and using Supply Chain Management (SCM) will reduce inefficiencies and increase profits. SCM reduces business transaction costs, and the inefficiencies of paper processing. This reduces the time between transactions and increases the flow of quality information with greater accuracy, further reducing costs (Rainer & Turban, 2009).
