Service Request SR-rm-004
Service Request SR-rm-004
SR-rm-004 requests that Riordan's HR system be analyzed in order to integrate the existing tools into a singular application. In response to Mr. McCauley's service request, SR-rm-004, the following report has been compiled following the Systems Life Cycle Development methodology as a suggested course of action.
Scope and Constraints
The first thing that needs to occur is to define both the project constraints and scope. Due to the nature of the service request, more information will need to be obtained to gain a full understanding of the scope for this project; however, there are a few elements that are currently known. This will be a company-wide remodeling of Riordan's HRIS system and the project should result in a more streamlined, efficient system than the one in place. Additional information needed on the scope of this project are:
Is this a hardware or software update/upgrade, or both?
Will this implementation only affect the HR department or can it integrate tools within the integration?
Will the new HRIS use off-the-shelf software to obtain its goals, or will the new HRIS be constructed in-house?
As with any project, the scope, Riordan's budget, and time will all be constraints on this project. As this project falls under the information technology division of the company, Riordan has set aside $150,000 for recommendations on systems integration, acquisitions and consolidations among other initiatives; therefore, this project falls within the company's criteria. As per the internal memo within Riordan, this is to be a six-month long project. This is able to be accomplished so long as the project moves smoothly.
Feasibility Concerns
The next step should be a full feasibility study to determine if this project will be effective in its proposed goal. Determining the feasibility of this project will take into account factors such as the economic, operational, technical,...
