Company description

Alibaba company is a privately ownedfamily of Internet-based businesses. These businesses include online marketplaces. These are responsible for the facilitation of the business-to-business international and domestic China trade. They also facilitate the retail and payment platforms. Alibaba.com gives the user a platform which he can shop using a search engine and data-centric cloud computing services. Alibaba Group and its affiliated entities have grown to have a worldwide effect. This company currently has more than 22,000 employees (Guo et al, 2006). These individuals are spread across some70 cities and regions. The countries served by this company include China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This company started by an individual called Jack Ma. He is the founder of Alibaba, this was the very first commercial website in China.

Alibaba was founded in Hangzhou in eastern China. It has grown to have four market places. This company serves the purpose of bringing together the importers and exporters. These are individuals who are in more than 240 countries and regions (Guo et al, 2006). The China marketplace thrives with the domestic business-to-business trade. Alibaba.com offers a platform that allows transaction-based businesses. This paper will conduct an in depth analysis of Alibaba.co m and have a look at the various market places using two forms of analysis; the estel analysis and porter’s five forces analysis.
