Personality Reflection

Using the textbook, the University Library, the Internet, and/or other resources, answer the following questions. Your responses to each question will vary but overall should be 700- to 1,050-words in length.

1. How would you define personality?

Personality can be defined in many different ways, from many different perspectives. From a high level, personality is what makes us human. Personality is what makes a person independent from another. The traits one has, such as behavior, feelings, actions, thoughts, reactions, etc. are all characteristics of a personality. Many types of personalities have been defined as a whole, yet each person is different. Ways a person reacts to a situation, what makes them tick, feeling love and anger, are all individual aspects of a personality.

2. What are some key personality features that define you?

There are several key personality features that define me. I have been told that I am an understanding person, which shows the traits of patience. I am very emotionally strong and stable individual meaning it takes a lot of effort to break my mood. I continue to give without any hope to receive in everything I do in life, relationships included. I have a deep caring trait about things in life I value. These personality features remains very consistent despite any changing situation. All of these traits I possess allow me to be an extremely caring and motivated person.

3. What key concepts or “constructs” are used to explain your personality?

I believe I possess two major personality constructs which guide my behavior and the way I view the world. The first construct comes from my life experience of being in the military. This experience allows me to look at the world with confidence, rather than fear. When I observe a situation, I try to look at it from multiple perspectives, rather than a narrow mindset.
