November 4th, 2008 was the day that our country changed. For the first time in history an African American, Barack Obama, was elected as the 44th president of the United States. There are many contrasting ideas on what exactly will come out of the first African American president. Will he be the next FDR, or the next Caesar? Some people believe that president Obama’s policies will help this country and others think that they will destroy it. I believe that Obama is exactly what this country needed. It’s time for a change and president Obama is that change. Many people’s views towards president Obama comes from mainstream media. The media mostly focuses on the negative rather than the positive. The media doesn’t really give credit to president Obama’s many achievements since his election. What exactly has president Obama’s policies have done for this country? The facts will speak for themselves.

One of the most controversial policies that the Obama administration had to encounter was the war in Iraq. During the Bush administration, the government started to lose the Americans support towards the war in Iraq. President Obama, since his election, has been slowly removing more troops from Iraq and sending more support to Afghanistan; which was exactly what the commanders had ask for. President Obama’s policies has also accomplished more captured and kills of Taliban leaders in his first year then the Bush administration did in their last two. All this accomplishment has lowered the spending on both Operation Iraqi Freedom and The War on Terror. The policy will open more revenue to help the country recover from the economical decline.

Another topic that the Obama administration had to face was the economic problem. President Obama was left with increasing epidemic; the country was going into an economic decline.
