Save the Last Dance

Save The Last Dance is one inspirational film that illustrates personal struggle, passion, success and perseverance of people who aspire to be. When Sara Johnson’s mother died due to a car accident, Sara took the blame as to why her mother died and left dancing with her dream of going to Julliard School. Her father took care of her and moved to a community of black people. She then met Derek. Derek taught Sara the Hip Hop moves to fit in but little did they know that they were slowly falling in love with each other. Derek pushed Sara to pursue her passion and helped her to achieve her dreams. Most of the people hated Sara together being with Derek and according to his sister Chenille; Derek was the only black guy who knows what he wants and not even Sara can take that drive and passion away from him.

I first thought that the movie was a bit cliché, but it was more than what I had expected towards the end. Sarah Johnson proved to all the people that she will become a successful dancer one day, just like what her mother dreamed of.. Another thing is that Julia Stiles did justice to the character she was portraying and one can see that Stiles’ acting was genuine.

In this life, there were times that everything may not be right and all that you want to do is to just give up. Quitting may be the easiest option out but it doesn’t mean that it is the answer to one’s problem. You have to be the best that you can be in order for you to achieve your dreams.
