Matthew 11:25-30

God is sovereign in choosing those to whom He will reveal His truth. All human wisdom and learning are irrelevant to the question of knowing God.

He is the Son in sovereign in revealing God. He has the authority to invite people to Himself. He is gentle and humble because he extends his invitation first to the weary and burdened and secondarily to the strong and comfortable.

In verse 28 Jesus says come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. This is our first point. He invites us to come to him!

When people try to sell us things are introduces a product to us. Jesus’ invitation is different. He sends us this invitation establishing Himself as the Son of God. For whom He is and He states God is with him.

In verse 27 He says “all things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son.”

Jesus has the authority over all things. We see here that Jesus is not mentioning our Father but He is saying My Father. There is a direct relationship with God. He tells us that he is the only begotten son. No one can know the Father except through Jesus. As we know Jesus is the only way to the Father.

John 1: 18 “no one has ever seen God, but God the one and only, who is at the Father’s side has made him known.”

So only God can know God fully and only God can say I know God. Jesus tells us through him we are able to know God. He chooses to reveal himself to us so we can know the Father. Jesus is the truth revealed to us.
