What you have to do

Answer the following tasks based on a workplace example. You can choose your own organisation, or one you know well or STAR Industries a fictitious organisation whose intranet is available in the Learning Resource.

Format: For this task prepare a FORMAL REPORT to senior management, use the format on at the OLS on the Course Overview page under useful Resources.

A guide to the word count is 1,500 words.

As a Diploma student you are required to read and research widely. You must include a bibliography with your assessment as evidence of the research you have conducted. If you provide direct quotes you should reference these both in text and with a reference list.

Task 1

In this task you will determine the future human resources needs in collaboration with relevant managers and sections. Use the dot pots in 1 as subheading in the introduction to your report and the dot points in 2 as sub headings in the body of your report.

Participate in strategic planning to determine the organisation’s priorities in recruiting based on expected growth.

Outline the relevant managers and sections you consulted and collaborated with and the form this consultation and collaboration took.

As an outcome of this strategic planning, identify ONE position the organisation has determined as being a high priority for recruitment action.

Develop a recruitment strategy to fill the position identified in point 1. Your strategy needs to comply with your organisation’s Recruitment, Selection and Induction policy and procedures and cover each of the following points. Justify each step based on budgetary considerations and comparison to alternate strategies:

Review and justify the need to fill the position

Determine the position requirements including the selection criteria. This may be presented as a Job Description.
