1. Define organization Behavior in your own words. Identify and explain the nature of any differences between the two definitions.

Organization behavior in my own understanding is the study and application of knowledge about how people, individuals, and groups act in organization. In the book says that organization behavior is the systematic study and careful application of knowledge about how people—as individuals and as groups—act within organizations. It strives to identify ways in which people can act more effectively. The two definitions are very similar because the major goal of organization behavior is to describe, systematically, how people behave under a variety of conditions. Achieving this goal allows managers to communicate about human behavior at work using a common language. Another goal of OB is to understand why people behave as they do. Managers would be highly frustrated if they could only talk about the behaviors of their employees and not understand the reasons behind those actions. There is no difference between the two definitions because they both focuses and shared the same goal and understanding about its application on organization.

2. As you trace the early history and nature of organizational behavior why do you think it has become a popular field of interest?

I think Organization behavior become a popular field of interest because it can help the organizations to be more effectively and enhance profitability. I think it is popular as a way to understand the behavior of persons in a large group. Our population is huge and people spend a large part of their lives in organizations, some of which are very large such as corporation. Organizations makes rules for behavior and offer benefits for behaving and producing in particular ways.
