Introduction
The Virtual Meeting Scenario shows us a case when the lack of effective communication leads to a lack of accomplishment when businesses seek and opportunity and its goal is not met.
“Effective communication is vital to all organizations because it coordinates employees, fulfills employee needs, supports knowledge management, and improves decision making. First, organizations depend on the ability of people to coordinate their individual work effort toward a common goal. Information exchange is an essential part of the coordination process, allowing employees to develop common mental models that synchronize their work.” (Steve L. McShane, 2005)
Team member impressions:
* Sam: The impression I got from Sam is that he assumes that Pablo, being of Mexican origin belongs under the stereo type that has been created due to the politic conflicts between both countries. Even though Pablo is clearly a well educated professional, Sam is bias to this and makes remarks that can be considered disrespectful, offensive and unethical, more when team members are introducing themselves for the first time.
* Pablo: When Pablo introduced himself, he was quick on mentioning his achievements. This may lead to the assumption that knowing he’s from and located in a third world country that initial impressions might be that of stereotypes. He did show hostility from Sam’s remarks, showing that he is sensitive about the topic.
* Lifang Lin: She demonstrates a very professional attitude, respectful of others and of the business. She seems focused and ready to get the job done. She does seem a little shyer than Sam and Pablo, but this might be...
