Abstract

The learning team assignment for week two is to design an improvement project; the team needs to consider the whole project. We then put together some consideration and completed the problem statement and flowchart. Problem underperforming stores that causing the company millions of dollars. Decision was made to close the stores, reduce staff, eliminate debt and realign the regions. The Jacksonville Business Journal reports, “The Company announced it would close 30 underperforming stores with an average of 65 employees per store, eliminate 120 corporate and field positions and consolidate its four operating regions into three.” (Conte, 2010)

Flow Charts of Processes needed for Associate, Payroll, Benefits, Workbrain, HR and Training

In the past, working at Winn Dixie with system conversions and re-alignment, payroll team worked long hours, the first payroll after the conversion. In order to streamline the process a re-alignment project team was put together. A team member from each area of the business that was being affected was assigned to the project. The team working together on the project, set goal and review processes to provide consistent and productive work flow. Things that needed to be done: The system testing to make sure position utility job was working; set of a new company to facilitate the one store that was not able to re-align with the region it was suppose to align with because of the company EIN number, scripts to update the location tables with the new region re-alignment...
