Organizational Behavior Terminology and Concepts

Introduction

Organizational behavior covers a wide variety of topics such as teams, personalities, how organizations accept change, organization leaders and employees amongst others, these are the main concepts in an organization. The study of how people behave in groups or individually within the organization is what makes up the behavior of an organization. One of the main objectives of organizational behavior is to build better relationships and organizational objectives. This paper will cover the organizational culture and behavior, organizational behavior, diversity, and communication. Having knowledge of how all of these works together can only make the organization stronger.

Organizational Culture and Behavior

The culture of an organization is formed from management’s goals, visions, and philosophies are created. As employees, these same principals, are handed down from the top creating the organizational culture. Employees use these principals to motivate and direct their daily routines and activities. Organizational behavior differs from the culture as it is strictly about the behavior of humans within the organization. It is more academic disciplines concerning the behavior whether in groups or as individuals of employees. According to Schermerhorn, J.R., Hunt, J.G., Osborn , R. N. Introducing organizational behavior. People make the difference (2008), “Learning about OB can help you develop a better work-related understanding about yourself and others; it is a knowledge platform that can expand your potential for career success in the dynamic, shifting, and complex new workplaces of today—and tomorrow.”
