Decisions in Paradise, Part 1
New Orleans is a multi-ethnic city. The diversity in New Orleans keeps life attractive and keeps visitors coming. New Orleans Multicultural Tourism Network is an organization that works to strengthen that diversity and to encourage multicultural visitation to New Orleans. “NOMTN’s mission is to identify and promote the cultural diversity of New Orleans and to increase leadership, career, and business opportunities at all level of the hospitality industry” (“Get Connected“, 2010, para. 1). NOMTN also partners with local businesses and tourism entities to help keep New Orleans in the hearts of travelers. NOMTN is contemplating expanding the organization in Kava, in the South Pacific. Kava has endured many disasters over the years leaving the island in ruins. New Orleans, Louisiana has endured its own set of disasters and can relate to the rebuilding process that is happening in Kava. With NOMTN building its headquarters on the island it can promote and encourage multicultural tourism in the South Pacific. Increase travel to Kava can help the local sales, increase revenue, and help in the rebuilding efforts on the island. The government of Kava and other organization are encouraging NOMTN to bring the business to the island to help in increasing tourism.
Organizational Process
My name is Nik, and NOMTN has hired me to travel to Kava to help establish its headquarters there. NOMTN has demonstrated through its growth that the company can develop and manage effectively and efficiently with organizational structure and processes in place.
