There are four main tissue types. The first is the Epithelial Tissue. The epithelial tissues are packed tightly together and form continuous sheets. These sheets serve as linings in different parts of the body. Epithelial tissues serve as linings to organs, keeping organs in place and separated from other organs. In the example above, it was the epithelial tissues that created the snapping sound Boll heard, it might be his skin breaking.

The second type of tissue is the Connective tissue. The connective tissues add support and structure to the body. Most of the connective tissues contain fibrous strands of protein collagen that add strength to the connective tissues. Tendons, ligaments, cartilage, bone, fat, and inner layers of the skin are all types of connective tissues. For Bill, the snapping sound could be his bone breaking or a tendon/ ligament snapping.

The third type of tissue is Muscle tissues. Muscle tissues are special because they can contract. Muscle tissues contain protein actin and myosin that glide past one another and allow movement. So for Bill, if it was muscle tissue he heard snapping he could have torn a muscle.

The last type of tissue is Nerve tissue. Nerve tissues contain neuron and glial cells. Nerve tissue can generate and conduct electrical signals in the body. These nerve messages travel from the brain down the spinal cord and then reach the rest of the body. As far as the sound Bill heard, the only way I can see the nerve tissues being involved would be because they send the signal to alert the boy that something has happened.
