In order to improve the human resource system at Kudler Fine Foods the SDLC process will need to be observed. The first steps in that process requires the information gathering of the current system and ideas for how the new system should be structured. Through this information gathering the scope and feasibility of the system will be determined. The initial new system ideas will be developed and documented. Throughout this process key decisions will need to be made on what the new system should be and through the correct use of the SDLC process those requirements that fulfill the need best will be utilized.

Information Gathering Techniques

To satisfy the service request as presented by the COO of Kudler Fine Foods Mr. Hugh McCauley information about the current system and ideas for the new system are required to be gathered. Interviews, questionnaires, document review and JAD sessions are typical information gathering techniques that can be used to satisfy this requirement in the SDLC process. Because the size of the organization and the complexity of the system all of the mentioned techniques are discussed and used to gather the necessary information. Observing the use of the system is a recognized information technique it is not used unless there is a hard to describe process or feature that becomes apparent.

Interviews are conducted first to receive a high overview of the current HR system. The President, store managers, Director of Finance and Accounting, Director of Store Operations and the Director of Administration and Human Resources are scheduled for an interview that fits his or her schedule. This will give a good high-level view of current operations and business goals for the new system.
