BEH225 Week 9 Final Project: Interview

Introduction:

This paper is the result of an interview of a peer about the process of the human brain. While we all have the ability of memory, learning, attitudes and motivation, we usually have very different ways of expressing these concepts. We have available tests that allow us to gauge our personality but how accurate are these tests. Some people think these test are accurate and some do not. This interview will show what the interviewee and I feel and think about these subjects.

Memory:

Memory is defined as an organism's ability to store, retain, and recall information (Morris & Maisto, 2002). We use our memories to learn information, develop new skills or to make new friends. We have to be able to remember the things we need to accomplish at any specific time. Our memories are very different from individual to individual. While some remember things easily and have no problem recalling information, others may have to use alternate methods to remember things accurately.

In the instance of memory April thinks that what she has learned from experiences/school and in life comprises memory, my definition of memory tends to be more like that of the one above. April said that for her to remember something she was more successful by doing things repeatedly to memorize the steps. I use a method of mental imagery for memory, I look at something I want to remember then take a mental photograph of it.

This interview show that while April has a broad definition of memory, I have a more narrow and focused explanation. Our techniques for remembering information are also different. April relies on repetition to transfer the wanted information through her sensory registers and short-term memory centers before it is finally transferred to her long-term memory.
