The human resources department for most companies involves the usual aspects such as employee information, hiring, reviews, payroll and many more. For Riordan Manufacturing their human resources needs are not any different. For service request SR-rm-004, Riordan is requesting an all encompassing HR system, which can combine all the needs of their business requirements, all their current process for HR, and combine them into a sophisticated system by the use of more state-of-the-art information systems technology.

We will achieve this goal by accomplishing the following: Three teams will be formed. Team One will interview and observe the end users of the current system and gather information in regards to functionality, scalability, ease of use and time it takes to enter and print required documentation. Team Two will inspect the current information systems in the Human Resource department. This will include inventorying all systems and servers, all software currently licensed with Riordan Manufacturing and all company designed software to include company specific applications. Team Three will review company procedures, departmental procedures and divisional procedures. They will also review documents the company uses on a daily basis.

Team One will use a combination of interviews, questionnaires, and observation. The interviews will be conducted in a relaxed environment and will not exceed 30 minutes and will target approximately 15 to 25% of the Human Resource Department. The questionnaires will be given randomly to personnel of each division. Observation will be accomplished by walking the spaces, reviewing computer logs and the Message Transfer Agent of the local Electronic Mail Server to gauge the users’ use of Electronic Mail.
