Social networking has had a huge influence on the way we communicate and particularly for personal use, disrupting telephone, email, instant messaging and event planning. However, now that social media is in operation, it is seen as less disruptive, but uses sustaining technology on its day to day operations as it relies on incremental improvements to an already established technology.

Many of the issues social media sites face today continue to have impact on the challenges of the business itself. Such issues are not limited to the designing of social media sites to drive conversations at optimal levels. Clearly defining their target audience and increasing customer engagement; transforming followers into clienteles and selecting accurate social media channels to use, remains ongoing challenges faced by these websites.

One of the characteristics of online social networks is that they must be User-Based. These websites are built and directed by users themselves. Lacking the input of the users, the network would be a blank space occupied by empty forums, applications, and chat rooms. Another characteristic of today’s social networks is the fact that they are very interactive and driven by communities.

To enter a social network it is required that individuals create their own personal profile, offering personal information, like email addresses and, also information about our interests, hobbies, work experience and work references etc .  Submitting such personal information poses risks to you being vulnerable to computer hackers using your personal information in their malicious deeds possibly putting you at risk.

I see Integrated Social Advertising being the biggest of trends in social media today. This is certainly leading up to the expectations of novel ways of firmly integrating social advertising with brands’ data bases and omni-channel strategies for sophisticated and contextual targeting.
