Divorce Rates in America

Many sources point to a 50% divorce rate in the United States of America. The statistics are from the American Census Bureau. The 50% divorce rate is incorrect. When researched closely the figures for divorce in the United States peak at around 43%. The reason for the discrepancy is that our census data deals with numbers only and only those that have been reported in a certain year. Therefore, the numbers are only a projection. The focus of this research goes a little bit farther to explain, who, how, and why our divorce rate continues.

The 50% divorce rate does not take in consideration as to whether it is a first, second, third or more, rate of marriages that occur in the United States. It also does not detail the ages of the divorced couples. These details are blindly hidden by the actual numbers. The table below indicates the ages and sex of divorces in the United States as of 1985. Again the data is fairly old and cannot indicate accurate figures.
