Background:

Managing workforce diversity has become a popular and important issue for today’s organisations. The major forces driving this focus on diversity management include increases in management literature exploring the advantages of managing diversity, ethical imperatives for equal opportunity, and legal requirements related to affirmative action and discrimination. Added to this is the notion by some theorists that the advantages of managing diversity improve an organisation’s profitability.

Read the following article to gain an overview of issues related to diversity management:

Task:

Select and identify two large organisations that are taking steps to manage their organisation’s diverse workforce. Utilise academic sources, business magazines, and the organisations’ websites to conduct research on both organisations in relation to their approaches to managing workforce diversity. You are to include in your report an analysis of the benefits, and any disadvantages, each organisation experiences/has experienced with its diversity management strategies.

You are required to compile a report that covers the following items:

1. A description of workforce diversity, and its advantages and disadvantages.

2. Identify organisation 1, analyse its approaches to managing workforce diversity, describing advantages and disadvantages the organisation experiences/has experienced.

3. Identify organisation 2, analyse its approaches to managing workforce diversity, describing advantages and disadvantages the organisation experiences/has experienced.
