Strategies for Communicating and Collaborating Effectively
There are many strategies for communicating and collaborating effectively within a group, but to develop these strategies they will first need to learn the different learning styles and personality types of each group member. After learning these styles and types, they will be able to communicate and collaborate within their group effectively based on those findings.
For example, a Verbal-Linguistic could communicate through speaking, reading, writing, and listening. An Interpersonal can relate to others moods and feelings, whereas, on the other hand, an Intrapersonal could understand their own feelings and behaviors. These three types are able to communicate very well simply because all three possess a communicating skill unique to the other, which would allow a different type of comprehension at another level allowing the three to collaborate effectively. The Verbal-Linguistic will be a good listener and could pick up on the tone of the group when speaking, the Interpersonal would be able to pick up on the group’s mood, the group could need a break or could be at differences about a topic and the body language would be acknowledged by the Interpersonal. The Intrapersonal would be aware of their own behavior and feelings and this could be an asset simply because this person would be more in control of self if differences should arise.
Personality types also weigh in on communicating and collaborating effectively. There are four personality types, the Thinker, the Organizer, the Giver, and the Adventurer. Say that we have a Giver, an Organizer, and a Thinker working on a project. The Giver is known to be honest and good at helping others. The Giver would also be good at teaching material and would establish good relationships making communicating and collaborating easy with others....
