A study on Employees grievances among the Employees in TNSTC, Nagercoil.

Introduction:

Grievance may be any genuine or imaginary feeling of dissatisfaction or injustice which an employee experiences about his job and its nature, about the management policies and procedures. It must be expressed by the employee and brought to the notice of the management and the organization. Grievances take the form of collective disputes when they are not resolved. Also they will then lower the morale and efficiency of the employees. Unattended grievances result in frustration, dissatisfaction, low productivity, lack of interest in work, absenteeism, etc. In short, grievance arises when employees’ expectations are not fulfilled from the organization as a result of which a feeling of discontentment and dissatisfaction arises. This dissatisfaction must crop up from employment issues and not from personal issues.

According to Michael Jucius A grievance can be any discontent or dissatisfaction, whether expressed or not, whether valid or not, and arising out of anything connected with the company that an employee thinks, believes, or even feels as unfair, unjust, or inequitable.

Statement of the Problem:

Employees differ as individuals, in their needs, expectations and behavior. When their needs are not satisfied or their objectives are not achieved, the result is employee dissatisfaction. It is not an easy task for the management to keep all the employees satisfied and motivated, all the time.

• If the dissatisfaction of employees’ goes unattended or the conditions causing it are not corrected, the irritation is likely to increase and lead to unfavorable attitude towards the management and unhealthy relations in the organization. Hence, handling the grievances of any person in any organization is of paramount importance.
